Shotokan Karate

Shotokan Karate comprises a highly effective system of self-defense emphasizing strong strikes, kicks and blocks. One of the most strongly disciplined of the arts, Karate trains the mind and body to receive and deliver powerful blows while maintaining internal as well as external balance.

Far Eastern Arts offers strong, traditional Karate courses, taught by a master in Shotokan, the most globally widespread of Karate styles. Shotokan is a hard Japanese style (as opposed to a "soft" art such as Aikido or Tai Chi Chuan) characterized by solid stances, powerful blocks, thrusting punches and linear attacks. As taught at the Center, Karate emphasizes the ingraining of focused techniques suited to actual combat as well as to tournament play.
